TYSC follows NCYSA guidelines when determining age group placement for players and uses Aug 1 of the seasonal year as the cutoff date. Refer to the registration form for actual birth date ranges for the age groups for the current soccer season. Exceptions can be made for players to play up to the next older age group, but players are prohibited from playing in a younger age group. If you wish your child to play in an older age group, please discuss it with your child's coach.  The Rules of each division can be found at the bottom of the page.

U5 Coed Rec
This age introduces the basic rules of the games, and is focused on fun and the most fundamental soccer skills. The games are 3v3 with no goalkeepers on a small field. The objective is to have players touch the ball as much as possible and enjoy games and practices. Scores and standings are not kept. Teams are a mix of boy and girls, with practices and games on Saturdays.

U6 Coed Rec
This age continues the focus on fun and the most fundamental soccer skills. The games are 3v3 with no goalkeepers on a small field. The objective is to have players touch the ball as much as possible and start to get comfortable with it at their feet. Scores and standings are not kept at this age. Teams are a mix of boys and girls, and practice once per week with games on Saturdays.

U7 and U8 Coed Rec
This age group is focused on basic mechanics and trying to develop good soccer habits. The games are expanded to 4v4 with no goalkeepers on a slightly larger field. The objective continues to be players touching the ball as much as possible and exhibiting some control with it at their feet. Teams are a mix of boy and girls, and practice once per week with games on Saturdays.

U10 Girls Rec
This age group continues to work on basic soccer skills and introduces concepts of team play. Games are 6v6 with goalkeepers on fields somewhat smaller than regulation. Teams are made up of girls only, and practice once per week with games on Saturdays.

U10 Coed Rec
This age group continues to work on basic soccer skills and introduces concepts of team play. Games are 6v6 with goalkeepers on fields somewhat smaller than regulation. Teams are a mix of boys and girls, and practice once per week with games on Saturdays.

U12 Girls Rec
This age group continues to work on basic soccer skills and expand the concepts of team play. Games are 8v8 with goalkeepers on fields slightly smaller than regulation. Teams are made up girls only, and practice once per week with games on Saturdays.

U12 Coed Rec
This age group continues to work on basic soccer skills and expand the concepts of team play. Games are 8v8 with goalkeepers on fields slightly smaller than regulation. Teams are a mix of boys and girls, and practice once per week with games on Saturdays.

Challenge
This is a competitive level of play. Players try out for teams and are selected based on their skill level and focus. Players are separated by gender and challenged to be their best. Teams practice twice per week with games on Sundays and attend local and out-of-town tournaments.
