The Hibs came out strong in their first game Saturday morning and blew past the TUSA Rovers 4-0. This is an MSSL team, but our regular season game got rained out. Brian opened the scoring with a long, hard shot and Collin made it 2-0 at the half.
JD, Greg, and Gerald dominated on defense and the Rovers couldn't get anything going at all, which made Graham's day in goal very easy. Josh and Evan tallied goals in the second half to give the Hibs a big opening win.

This game proved to be a bigger test than the morning game. The Hibs seemed to still be on break and let the Arsenal go ahead quickly within the first 2 minutes of the game. The Arsenal kept the Hibs on their heels and went up 2-0 a few minutes later. Slowly, the Hibs gained control of the game. Graham began shutting down Arsenal’s playmaker while Buzz and Gabriel turned the tide at midfield. With about 30 seconds left in the half, Gabriel intercepted an Arsenal goal kick and drove to the net to bring the Hibs within 1.
The second half was all Hibs as they attacked the Arsenal defense in waves. In the 63rd minute, Will played the ball to Gabriel in stride to tie the game at 2. Then, in injury time, Buzz sent Joey deep down the left sideline where he scored the game winner from an impossible angle.

Sunday morning brought on a familiar, and tough, opponent – Sandhills Speed. The Speed started with a strong attack that kept the Hibs deep in their own territory. Fortunately for the Hibs, the Speed weren’t able to get a clean shot on goal. Slowly, the Hibs turned the tide in midfield with Gerald and Brian leading the way. Late in the half, Jake nailed a 25-yard free kick under the crossbar to open the scoring.
The Hibs came alive in the 2nd half and controlled the game. Gabriel had light work in goal while Collin, Evan, and Brian added goals to give the Hibs a 4-0 win and move on to the championship game.

The Hibs came up against a very good North Mecklenberg Strikers team in the finals. The Strikers scored an early goal and had a 2-0 lead at the half. The Hibs pressed hard to get one back quickly in the second half and got caught, which gave the Strikers a 3-0 lead. Greg and Conor played well to keep the game even from then on. JD made some beautiful saves down the stretch to keep the Hibs in the game, but the opportunities just weren’t there for them to get on the board.
